Several institutions have come together to organise a major international seminar on the occasion of the centenary of Gandhi’s Hind Swaraj. The objective is to take Hind Swaraj as a vantage point and engage ourselves on some of the fundamental questions of our age and try to make a contribution to basic thinking on those issues. The following panels have been proposed to reflect on challenges of the 21st century from the perspective of people of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

•Self Determination, Liberation and Freedom • Science, Technology and Swaraj • Human Rights and Social Justice • Religion and Social Imagination • Feminism • Swaraj, State and the Marginalised • Field reports on Gram Swaraj experiments • Hind Swaraj as a classical text in world literature
Abstracts of 250 words are invited from scholars and activists for the above panels by 15 December 2008. Authors of selected papers will be intimated by 31 December 2008. The last date for the submission of full length papers of 5000 to 6000 words is 31 January 2009. Local hospitality will be provided to all selected participants. Limited travel support is available for international participants and for scholars and activists within India.
